LPD Commands - System Setup Procedures
LPD commands are used for NT pc's on the network.
System Setup Procedures
Information is stored in the LPD.USER.CONTROL file.
Three LPD.USER.CONTROL records must be established or modified.
Record1: 'people id number' contains the printer names that this person can print to.
Record2: 'computer name on network' contains the computer print options.
field1: setptr command for printer attached to computer. Maximum length is 50.
field2: 'Y' will ask for a banner -- 'N' will not.
field3: message indicating which printer it will print to. Maximum length is 50.
field4: 'Y' for laser printer including HP inkjets -- 'N' if not.
field5: 'Y' will ask for number of copies -- 'N' or '' will not.
Record3: 'application name' contains the valid printer(s) for that application.
To list applications that could be printed enterLIST LPD.USER.CONTROL WITH @ID LIKE ...appl...
and select the appropriate application(s) for this person.
Edit the application(s) and add the person's pc name to the bottom of the list.
Load pre-existing records or use the LPD.USER.CONTROL templates.
